Iran has found the world’s largest amount of newly discovered gas since 2025, with two gas fields combining to produce 17.5 trillion cubic feet of gas.
The Takht and Pazan gas fields account for this discovery, making Iran the world’s leading country for gas finds during this period.
The Takht field alone, located in the southern part of Iran, contains 7.5 trillion cubic feet of gas, with 5.5 trillion cubic feet estimated to be recoverable.
Iran is planning to expand its exploration activities to take advantage of the country’s oil and gas potential.
Officials say the country will focus exploration efforts on its north-eastern, northern and north-western regions to search for additional hydrocarbon resources and support further development of the energy sector.
