France has announced it will not support Gianni Infantino’s bid to remain FIFA president in the March 2027 election.
The French Football Federation said it is joining other European football bodies including Belgium, Italy, Scotland, Sweden and Wales in withdrawing support for Infantino.
The federation’s president said trust in the FIFA leader has been betrayed and that how world football is run no longer reflects their values.
Infantino, who is 56, confirmed last week that he will run for another term as FIFA president despite criticism over a plan to bring private investment into the World Cups.
The plan has since been abandoned.
So far, he is the only candidate for the position.
