NSCDC arrests suspected thugs, rescues injured victims in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kano State Command, has arrested two suspected thugs and rescued two victims in Kano Municipal Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Kano.

Idris-Abdullahi said the victims, residents of Makwarari Quarters, were trekking to a nearby football pitch when they were attacked by the hoodlums at Kofar Naisa area.

He said the assailants inflicted multiple injuries on the victims with dangerous weapons, including knives and cutlasses.

“Operatives of the Corps’ Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), while on routine patrol in the area, swiftly intervened and rescued the victims”

He said two suspected members of the gang, Ibrahim Abdullahi, 23, and Aminu Jazuli, 20, were arrested at the scene.

“Several other suspects, many of whom were armed with dangerous weapons, fled upon sighting the approaching NSCDC operatives,” he said.

The spokesperson said the rescued victims, who sustained multiple injuries, were given necessary assistance, while the suspects remained in NSCDC custody for investigation.

Idris-Abdullahi, quoted the State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, commending the CTU operatives for their prompt response.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities and acts of violence to security agencies.

Hassan-Agalama assured the public that the suspects would face appropriate legal action upon completion of investigations.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace and security across the state.
