The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as it steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections and begins efforts to build a nationwide grassroots campaign.
The council, announced on Thursday, comprises zonal and state coordinators alongside directors overseeing key areas including mobilisation, women affairs, strategy and planning, security, legal affairs, information technology, administration and public engagement.
The Director-General of the movement, John Ughulu, will serve as the Director-General of the campaign council, while its National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, is also part of the campaign leadership.
The newly constituted structure covers Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with coordinators assigned to all 36 states.
The development marks another phase in the movement’s preparations to mobilise support for the proposed joint presidential ticket involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a message congratulating members of the council, Sani described their appointments as a responsibility to serve and tasked them with taking the movement’s message beyond major cities to communities and grassroots constituencies across the country.
She said the assignment would require commitment, discipline and teamwork, given the political significance of the 2027 elections.
“Your selection is not merely an appointment; it is a call to duty, sacrifice, leadership and service to Nigeria. At this critical moment in our nation’s history, the responsibility before the Presidential Campaign Council is enormous,” she said.
According to her, members of the council are expected to communicate the vision and aspirations of the movement to Nigerians at every level, from states and local government areas to wards and individual communities.
“You have been entrusted with the task of taking the vision, message and aspirations of our principals directly to the Nigerian people from the cities to the grassroots, from the states to the local governments, and from the wards to every community across the federation,” she added.
Sani further said the movement was focused on a broader national agenda rather than individual political ambitions.
“The OK Movement is not built around individuals seeking personal recognition. It is a movement driven by a larger national vision: to mobilise Nigerians around the possibility of a better, more prosperous, united and functional Nigeria,” she stated.
She urged the campaign council members to work collectively and develop effective strategies for reaching voters across the country.
“The road ahead will require hard work. It will require strategic thinking, grassroots mobilisation, effective communication and, above all, the ability to work together as one formidable political family,” Sani said.
She added that one of the immediate priorities of the council would be to ensure that the message of the movement reaches Nigerians across the country.
“Our responsibility is to ensure that the message of our principals reaches every Nigerian and that the voice of the people is heard across the length and breadth of our nation,” she said.
Zonal, State Coordinators Named
Among the zonal coordinators appointed are Suleiman Abubakar for the North-Central, Hashimu Dungurawa for the North-West, Amadu Gwambe for the North-East, Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for the South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for the South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh for the South-East.
The movement also appointed coordinators for the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory as part of its strategy to establish a presence across the federation.
Other members of the campaign council include Rev. Mike Agbon, Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria; Sabo Gashua, Director of Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Director of Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Director of Contact and Engagement; and Abdumumini Tijjani, Director of Mobilisation.
Also appointed are Yusuf Mani, Director of Special Duties; Peace Daful, Director of Procurement; Prof. Charles Nwekeaku, Director of South-Eastern Town Hall; and Sunmisola Adebayo, Director of Information Technology.
Kingdom Okere will oversee Legal Affairs, while Abiodun Dabiri was appointed Director of Strategy and Planning. Richard Enemona, a retired CSP, will head Security and Intelligence, with Aisha Abdulrahaman serving as Director of Administration.
The unveiling comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, with political groups and potential alliances increasingly positioning themselves for the contest.
Last month, the movement reiterated its decision to maintain an independent organisational structure rather than merge with another political organisation ahead of the elections. It also reaffirmed Ughulu’s position as its founder and Director-General.
