Police in Ogun State have arrested two men after stopping a robbery at a student hostel in the Eruku/Agbon area of Ewekoro Local Government Area.

The suspects, Waris Dauda and Tiamiyu Abiodun, were caught in the early hours of Sunday, September 13, 2026, after officers responded to a distress call about an armed gang robbing students.

The incident happened around 2:40 a.m. when officers from the Ewekoro Division, led by their divisional police officer, rushed to the scene.

When the robbers spotted the approaching police, they abandoned a school bag containing their stolen goods and tried to escape.

But the officers chased them down and arrested both suspects.

Inside the abandoned bag, police found 11 iPhones, an HP laptop and various pieces of clothing.

Some of the victims were able to confirm the items belonged to them.

Investigations also showed that during the robbery, the gang had forced one of the students to transfer 200,000 naira into an account.

Detectives visited the hostel, documented signs of forced entry and secured the recovered items.

Searches at the homes of both suspects turned up no additional evidence.

The two men and all recovered property are being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
