A video circulating online shows a brave woman stepping in to stop policemen from arresting two young boys following an illegal phone search.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday after an online user shared footage of the fiery encounter.
The woman confronted the officers, demanding the immediate release of the boys and questioning why young men with stylish haircuts are constantly targeted by law enforcement.
One of the boys recorded the moment, revealing that the officers began shoving his friend into a patrol vehicle and hitting him while another officer was still going through his phone.
The police attempted to justify their actions by claiming the boys refused to cooperate with the search.
However, intervention from the woman and other onlookers prevented the officers from driving away with the youths.
The clip has sparked fresh outrage across social media platforms, with several users sharing similar stories of illegal phone searches, harassment, and wrongful arrests in areas like Ikorodu, Lagos.
Meanwhile, official directives from the Lagos State Police Command maintain that officers are strictly banned from searching citizens’ phones during routine stop-and-search operations.
