Dangote Cement Plc shares jumped 10 percent to N1,222.10 on Monday as the Nigerian equities market added approximately N2.64 trillion in market value.
The cement company’s share price rose by N111.10 from its previous close of N1,111, making it the strongest-performing ordinary equity among the securities reported on the Nigerian Exchange on October 26, 2026.
The rally coincided with a sharp rebound in the broader equities market, with the NGX All-Share Index advancing 1.65 percent to 251,290.54 points.
The benchmark index gained 4,068.27 points from 247,222.27 points at the end of the previous trading week.
Equities market capitalisation similarly increased from N160.519 trillion to N163.161 trillion, adding approximately N2.642 trillion in a single trading session.
The advance reversed the weakness recorded in the previous week, when the All-Share Index declined 0.13 percent and market breadth deteriorated to 20 gainers against 55 decliners.
Dangote Cement’s 10 percent increase stood out during Monday’s rebound, although the available market data do not quantify the company’s individual contribution to the 1.65 percent increase in the benchmark index.
Other equities also recorded strong gains during the session.
Honeywell Flour Mills advanced 9.78 percent from N17.90 to N19.65, while Royal Exchange gained 9.18 percent from N0.98 to N1.07.
However, the broader market rally was accompanied by sharp losses in some equities that had rallied in the previous week.
ABC Transport declined 9.59 percent to N6.60 after gaining 20.66 percent in the previous week, while Caverton Offshore Support Group dropped 9.38 percent from N4.80 to N4.35 following a 17.07 percent weekly advance.
Livestock Feeds also fell 9.09 percent from N17.05 to N15.50, extending the retreat that began after the stock reached N19 earlier in October.
Overall, investors exchanged 329.53 million shares worth N25.45 billion in 43,700 deals during Monday’s session.
Zenith Bank led trading activity with 25.92 million shares valued at N3.11 billion, followed by UBA with 23.99 million shares worth N979.61 million and Access Holdings with 18.01 million shares valued at N487.83 million.
The combination of Dangote Cement’s double-digit advance and the broader 1.65 percent increase in the All-Share Index marked a strong start to the new trading week following the weakness recorded across the market in the preceding week.
