The two events, earlier scheduled for October 29 and 31, 2026, respectively, have been rescheduled due to security concerns.
This was announced in a press release issued on Monday by the Secretary of the Taraba State Security Committee.
According to the statement, the decision was reached in consultation with the state government following the recent security breach in Binari Village, Amar Ward, Karim-Lamido Local Government Council, and ongoing military operations around Gashaka-Gumti National Park in Gashaka Local Government Council.
The affected events, as observed by DAILY POST, include the golden jubilee celebration of Zing Local Government Council and the launch of a book documenting the history of the council, which was scheduled to hold on October 29 at the Town Field in Zing.
Also postponed is the 10th anniversary celebration of the Lamdo Gashaka, Alhaji Zubairu Hammangabdo Muhammad Sambo, initially scheduled for Saturday, October 31, at Serti Township Stadium in Serti.
The security committee said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of guests, traditional rulers, government officials, and members of the public, while allowing security agencies to conclude their ongoing operations.
The committee urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and supportive of security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist security operations.
