The General Officer Commanding, GOC, 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase has urged communities in Katsina State to provide timely and credible intelligence to security forces to help tackle insecurity.

Wase made the appeal on Tuesday during an operational assessment visit to the 17 Brigade area of responsibility, where he met residents of Dokolo community in Machika, Sabuwa Local Government Area.

The appeal was contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 1 Division, Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi.

The GOC said cooperation between residents and security personnel was essential to effective operations, particularly in identifying suspicious movements and potential threats.

He also visited troops at Forward Operating Base Faskari to assess their operational readiness and working conditions.

Wase urged the soldiers to maintain professionalism, discipline and vigilance while assuring them that the Army would continue to address their welfare and logistical needs.

In a separate engagement, the GOC visited Dutsinma to convey the condolences of the Chief of Army Staff to the family and followers of Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka, who was recently killed.

He urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding while security agencies investigate the killing, assuring them that efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible.
