Livestock Feeds Plc emerged as the best-performing stock on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) last week after its share price surged 47.75 percent in five trading sessions.
The company’s shares climbed from N8.90 at the beginning of the week to N13.15 at the close of trading on Friday, October 9, 2026, representing an increase of N4.25 per share.
The sharp appreciation placed Livestock Feeds comfortably ahead of every other equity on the NGX gainers’ table for the week.
Tripple Gee and Company Plc ranked behind Livestock Feeds after gaining 32.62 percent, rising from N2.33 to N3.09.
Guinea Insurance Plc appreciated 29.17 percent from N0.72 to N0.93, while Learn Africa Plc advanced 19.61 percent from N7.65 to N9.15.
Multi-Trex Integrated Foods Plc completed the five biggest weekly gainers with a 16.67 percent increase from N0.36 to N0.42.
Livestock Feeds’ performance was particularly notable because it came during a week dominated by declining stocks.
Only 24 equities appreciated during the week, compared with 44 in the preceding week, while the number of declining stocks increased to 54 from 37. Another 68 equities closed unchanged.
This meant there were more than two declining stocks for every advancing equity, yet Livestock Feeds delivered a gain approaching 48 percent.
The broader market consequently finished the week lower.
The NGX All-Share Index declined 0.97 percent from 250,808.27 points to 248,363.55 points, shedding 2,444.72 points during the week.
Equity market capitalisation also declined 0.97 percent to N161.260 trillion.
Trading activity remained substantial, with investors exchanging 2.715 billion shares worth N158.280 billion across 209,986 deals during the five-day trading week.
Financial services dominated activity with 2.005 billion shares worth N82.924 billion, representing 73.84 percent of total market volume and 52.39 percent of transaction value.
Livestock Feeds’ 47.75 percent weekly appreciation therefore stood in sharp contrast to the broader weakness on the NGX, making the company the strongest price performer during a week in which selling pressure outweighed gains across much of the equities market.
