Some Nigerians have expressed anger after the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dayo Israel, revealed that First Lady Oluremi Tinubu donated brand-new 2026 Toyota Prado SUVs to the party’s youth leaders.
In a video shared on X on Sunday, Israel showed 7 Prado Jeeps parked in a row, saying it was for election mobilisation ahead of 2027.
He said, “Today, I presented a brand new 2026 Prado to my committed selected youth leaders to aid their election mobilisation activities.
“I am grateful to my Mummy, Oluremi Tinubu, for her continuous support to the party structure under my leadership. We will deliver polling unit by polling unit.”
This comes amid hunger and hardship in the country, mostly caused by policies introduced by the President Bola Tinubu administration.
The video has sparked outrage on X as many Nigerians condemned the SUV gifts.
Below are some reactions compiled by DAILY POST from X.
@Unkleayo: “This is what you bastards are doing with our commonwealth. So this is what the Mummy’s Boys are receiving for ‘election mobilisation ‘. 120M naira each? What kind of republic is this?”
@harmlessHQ: “Yesterday in Kaduna, Tinubu was blaming the opposition for the hunger and hardship. Today, Dayo Israel is casually dashing out 2026 Prado SUVs to his fellow youth leaders.”
@iamchibuzoree: “A government that told us there is no money to pay striking doctors. No money to pay nurses. Suddenly found money to buy a convoy of brand new 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUVs?”
@idofoi: “You are a complete disgrace to the APC… Why choose this moment to flaunt such nonsense on social media, repeatedly shouting ‘Mummy, Mummy’?”
@thoughtsmini2: “They will drive this to tell the youth to endure the pain of reforms.”
@Adewolessamuel: “Out of touch with reality, tone deaf to the cry of the masses. You and your mummy, that’s who you are.”
@ayshaHamman: “Asked how many primary healthcare centres could be built with the money for the 7 SUVs”
DAILY POST recalls that President Bola Tinubu, during the flag-off of his presidential campaign in Kaduna on Saturday, blamed the opposition for the acute hunger Nigerians are going through.
