Tinubu made the call in a congratulatory message issued by the State House on Monday, October 26, 2026.
He said Lula’s renewed mandate offered both countries an opportunity to deepen their longstanding relationship, which dates back to 1961.
“As two leading nations of the Global South, we can promote economic integration and advance our shared interests in a rapidly changing global order,” Tinubu said.
The Nigerian president said he wanted both countries to expand cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, food security, oil and gas, manufacturing, science and technology, education, aviation and cultural exchange.
He also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to working with Brazil on multilateral cooperation and shared priorities across Africa, South America and the Global South.
