Wrong belief system impeding development in Africa- Apostle Okoriko

Apostle John Okoriko of the Solid Rock Kingdom Church, Akwa Ibom State has attributed the slow development across Africa to faulty belief system and unproductive tradition.

He added that the wrong belief has not only caused the economic and political erosion across the continent but the religious and tribal conflicts witnessed.

Apostle Okoriko who made the assertion at the monthly Interactive Service for the month of October in Eket, themed, ” The Power of Belief” recalled that Africa was leading the world in development but later drifted backwards due to unsubstantiated beliefs anchored on myths and superstition .

According to him, ”Egypt in Africa was the first nation to develop a literacy framework through hieroglyphics which was later upgraded to alphabets by another country. Regrettably, Egypt abandoned development and resorted to wrong beliefs such as preservation of the dead, building of pyramids and burying the dead with their resources such as gold, silver and precious stones believing that the dead are more powerful than the living.”

Okoriko explained that these beliefs have distracted the African continent as they were then overtaken by other nations in terms of development.

He regretted that Africans still believe in witchcraft and sorcery, spending their hard earned resources to maintain and service them instead of using their resources to upgrade science and technology to improve the region.

He called on African leaders to change their mindsets before the region can be transformed technologically.

“Our beliefs in Africa are wrong. What determines poverty or riches of an individual is their belief system. Belief determines what will happen to anybody. Africa changed their beliefs from development to other thoughts which has not allowed them to focus on development,” he said.
