Hon. Peter Ipusu, who represents the Katsina-Ala West State Constituency, has been elected as the new Majority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred, presided over the election during Tuesday’s plenary.
Ipusu is a seasoned lawmaker who currently chairs the House Standing Committee on Tertiary Education after serving as the Assembly’s Chief Whip.
His promotion is a reflection of the trust placed in his background, ability, and comprehension of legislative processes.
Speaker Emberga congratulated the member on his rise to prominence and explained that the new role would allow Hon. Ipusu to further enhance the stability and efficacy of the assembly.
In addition to encouraging cooperation, discipline, and positive participation among House members, he urged him to use his skills to the coordination of legislative activities.
The new Majority Leader was also tasked by Hon. Alfred with promoting laws and policies that would meet the requirements of the populace and further Benue State’s general development.
He emphasized the value of cooperation among legislators and urged Ipusu to continue consulting and working together with Assembly members while carrying out his duties.
Hon. Alfred expressed confidence that Hon. Ipusu’s promotion will strengthen the House’s leadership and improve the Assembly’s ability to carry out its constitutional duties, according to a statement made by Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker Zappe Upaa.
The move is a further step in the Benue State House of Assembly’s continuous efforts to fortify its legislative frameworks and guaranty efficient representation and responsive governance for the state’s citizens.
