A 60-year-old woman has described the brutal two months she spent in b@ndits’ captivity.
Hanatu Luka and other captives were beaten, chained, forced to eat grass and made to sleep in the rain during their ordeal in Kaduna State.
Luka said the b@ndits treated them harshly throughout their time in the bush.
Food was scarce, leaving them constantly hungry.
They were given almost nothing to eat, so they resorted to eating grass just to survive.
The captives had no proper shelter and were left exposed to the weather.
She said some of the other captives were also molested by their abductors.
For two months, fear and uncertainty were constant.
The captives didn’t know when they will be released or what their captors might do to them next.
The experience left deep scars.
Even after returning home, Luka struggles to forget the hunger, the beatings, the chains, sleeping in rain and being forced to eat grass.
She said these are memories she will carry with her forever and can never fully escape.
