The release of the 30-man shortlist for the 2026 Ballon d’Or has revealed the leading contenders for this year’s prestigious award.
Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane is currently the favourite to win the award, according to betting prediction platform Polymarket.
Kane has a 63% chance of winning based on the latest predictions.
The England captain enjoyed a successful season with Bayern Munich, helping the German club win both the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal titles.
Barcelona and Spain winger Lamine Yamal is ranked second in the race with 15%.
Yamal also had a strong campaign, winning LaLiga and the Copa del Rey with Barcelona. He was also part of the Spain team that won the World Cup.
Real Madrid and France forward Kylian Mbappe is third with 11%.
Although Mbappe did not win a major trophy during the period under review, he had an impressive individual season.
The Real Madrid forward finished as the top scorer in the Champions League, LaLiga and the World Cup.
The final Ballon d’Or winner will be announced after the voting process involving the selected journalists is completed.
