Chelsea players Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers have continued their disagreement over who won the official Player of the Match award after the Blues’ thrilling victory over Leeds United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Rogers provided four assists as the Blues scored six goals in a remarkable second-half comeback against the Whites. Meanwhile, Palmer scored two goals during the match at Stamford Bridge and was awarded the official Player of the Match title by Sky Sports.
In line with tradition, Sky Sports interviews two players from the same team, with one player presenting the Player of the Match trophy to the other. However, Rogers firmly believed that Palmer should have been the one to present the award to him.
Rogers responded on Sky Sports when asked if he would present the award to Palmer: “Unfortunately, yeah. It’s rigged, honestly, it’s rigged.”
Before the interview started, Sky Sports cameras captured Rogers expressing his frustration about not receiving the award himself.

“Nah, nah, nah, I can’t believe that. That is mental. He scored a pen! Nah, that’s mental. Nah, that is criminal.”
The exchange took place on Wednesday night, and the debate continued into Thursday.
Rogers did receive the Star of the Match accolade from Chelsea, who shared a photo of the 24-year-old on the club’s official Instagram page to acknowledge his contributions.
Palmer reacted: “???”, to which Rogers replied: “The fans know.”
Manager Xabi Alonso is unlikely to be overly concerned about who receives such accolades, as long as the Chelsea duo continues to excel in front of goal.
