The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned the public about fake text messages claiming that motorists have been recorded for new traffic violations.
The scam messages urge recipients to click a link specifically pointing to a fake site called “frscgov.top/ng” to check their offense details.
FRSC spokesperson Osondu Ohaeri clarified that the corps has no connection to this website and warned that the link is designed to steal sensitive details like passwords, bank information, and driver’s license data.
FRSC Marshal Shehu Mohammed advised motorists not to click any suspicious links or make payments through unsolicited texts.
Instead, people should double-check any traffic offenses through the official website (frsc.gov.ng) or call the toll-free line 122.
The agency added that it is working with cybersecurity officials to track down the scammers behind the impersonation.
