United States President Donald Trump has warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop attacks on Russian diesel refineries, saying the strikes are contributing to a shortage of fuel around the world.
Trump spoke to reporters on Sunday, expressing concern over Ukraine’s continued attacks on oil facilities in Russia.
According to him, the destruction of diesel refineries is affecting the global fuel market.
“He has to stop knocking out diesel fuel in Russia,” Trump said.
The US President said Ukraine could continue targeting other facilities but should avoid diesel refineries because of their importance to global fuel supplies.
Trump also said the current disruption in the global diesel market was not mainly caused by tensions in the Middle East.
Instead, he blamed the situation on the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine and the attacks on Russian fuel facilities.
Trump said the United States had raised the issue directly with Zelenskyy, making it clear that Washington does not want Kyiv to continue targeting Russian diesel refineries.
The warning comes as the war between Russia and Ukraine continues to affect global energy markets, with concerns growing over the impact of attacks on major oil and fuel infrastructure.
