Two female students who were kidnapped from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, have been safely released.

The students were taken last Sunday during a violent attack on campus that led to the death of an Owerri bank manager, Mr. Ossy, who was shot after trying to resist his attackers while dropping off his children.

The university spokesperson, Orakwe Ezugwu, confirmed their release on Friday, noting that both students are receiving medical attention and counseling at the school’s medical center.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ikechukwu Dozie, has also visited the students to check on their well-being.

The school management thanked the police and other security agencies for their quick action.

They assured parents, students, and staff that extra security measures have been put in place to keep the campus safe, while urging everyone to stay calm and report any suspicious activity.
