Police arrest suspected car theft kingpin, recover stolen vehicle in Mowe

Operatives of the Mowe Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected vehicle theft kingpin, Mosuru Issa, 28, and recovered a stolen Toyota Camry.

Issa was arrested during a stop-and-search operation along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday at about 7:30 a.m.

DAILY POST learnt that when the operatives flagged down the wine-coloured Camry during the routine check, the three occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Office, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operatives chased them, arrested Issa, and secured the vehicle.

Babaseyi stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the car was stolen on September 7, 2026, from where it was parked in Ojo, Lagos State.

The PPRO said efforts are ongoing to locate the owner of the vehicle and arrest the fleeing accomplices.

He said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their vigilance and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing to curb vehicle theft and highway crime.

The command urged residents to report suspicious activities through its toll-free line and advised vehicle owners to use anti-theft devices when parking in public places.
