Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued traders abducted by terrorists along the Funtua–Faskari axis of Katsina State and arrested two suspects in a separate operation.
The troops responded to a distress call after terrorists intercepted a commercial vehicle conveying traders and forced the occupants into the surrounding bush. The troops pursued the attackers and engaged them in a firefight, forcing them to retreat into the forest and abandon their captives. The rescued victims were unharmed and escorted to Sheme Market, where they reunited with their communities.
In a separate operation along the Katsina–Dutsin-Ma highway, troops deployed in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted a stolen gold Toyota Corolla in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force.
Two male suspects, identified as 28-year-old Abdulmalik Haruna and 44-year-old Mohammed Kabir, were arrested at the scene. The suspects and recovered vehicle were subsequently handed over to the police at Dutsin-Ma Division for further investigation and legal action.
