The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has questioned the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, over a colloquium held in his honour and broadcast on major television stations.

Sowore, in a post on X, criticised the event, asking what Seyi had contributed to Nigerian society to deserve such recognition.
“What exactly has Seyi Tinubu contributed to Nigerian society to warrant this elaborate colloquium, attended by so many ‘prominent personalities’ and broadcast across major television stations?” he asked.

Sowore questioned whether the event was based on merit or simply on Seyi Tinubu being the son of a sitting president.
He also compared the event with the political attention that surrounded marriages into the family of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, arguing that the spectacle faded after Yar’Adua’s death.

Sowore said the colloquium was taking place while Nigerians were grappling with hunger, unemployment, insecurity and economic hardship, which he blamed on the Tinubu administration.
“At a time when millions of Nigerians are struggling with hunger, unemployment, insecurity, and economic hardship brought about by his father, we should be having national shaming of the Tinubu regime,” he wrote.
