Tottenham seal £75m deal for Manchester City star Savinho

By Kazeem Ugbodaga

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign Brazilian winger Savinho for £75 million, with a further £10 million potentially payable in add-ons.

The 22-year-old is now expected to undergo a medical before completing a long-term move to north London, bringing to an end a transfer pursuit that has stretched back more than a year.

Tottenham had previously tried to sign Savinho last summer, but their bid was unsuccessful after the winger opted to remain at Manchester City.

However, the Brazilian’s situation at the Etihad Stadium changed during the 2025-26 season, when regular first-team football proved difficult to secure under manager Pep Guardiola. Savinho made just seven Premier League starts last season, despite making 24 league appearances overall.

His impending move to Spurs represents a significant investment in a player who arrived at City from French club Troyes in July 2024 on a five-year contract. The initial deal was worth €40 million (£30.8 million).

Savinho joined City after an impressive loan spell at Girona during the previous campaign, where he emerged as one of La Liga’s exciting young attacking players. He scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 41 appearances as Girona finished third in the league.

The move to Manchester was part of the wider City Football Group structure, with both Girona and Troyes belonging to the same ownership group.

Savinho has since made 84 appearances for Manchester City, contributing seven goals and 16 assists. However, his progress at the club was hampered by inconsistent playing time and a dip in form last season.

He scored just once in 24 Premier League appearances during the 2025-26 campaign, although he added three goals in five domestic cup appearances.

Tottenham’s decision to commit an initial £75 million to the winger underlines their belief that Savinho can rediscover the form and attacking spark that made him one of Europe’s most highly regarded young talents during his time at Girona.

For Savinho, the move offers the prospect of a fresh start and a greater role in north London after a frustrating spell competing for minutes at Manchester City.

With his medical still to be completed, the final formalities remain before the Brazilian can officially begin the next chapter of his career in Tottenham colours.
