Land Dispute Horror: Stray bullet kills university student in Niger

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Sulaiman, expressed sorrow over the death, describing it as a painful loss to the university community.

Magaji, who studied Public Administration, was reportedly struck by the bullet in his hometown of Wawa, Borgu Local Government Area of the state.

The university confirmed his death in a statement issued on Saturday by its Deputy Registrar, Information, Alhaji Baba Akote.

According to Akote, the incident occurred amid a dispute over land in the community.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Sulaiman, expressed sorrow over the death, describing it as a painful loss to the university community.

Sulaiman extended his condolences to Magaji’s family, friends, classmates and associates, and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.

He also prayed for strength and fortitude for Magaji’s family and loved ones to cope with the loss.

The Vice-Chancellor urged the communities involved in the dispute to embrace dialogue and exercise restraint, stressing the need to prioritise peaceful coexistence to prevent further loss of lives and bloodshed.
