PM NEWS has warned politicians, political parties, their supporters and other individuals to immediately desist from using the newspaper’s name, logo and brand to create and circulate fabricated stories for political purposes.
The warning follows the circulation of a purported PM NEWS front page carrying the sensational headline, “How I Became a Drug Abuser & Trafficker,” and attributing the alleged statement to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, then described as Lagos State Governor.
PM NEWS states categorically that the publication is fake and was never produced or published by the newspaper.
The purported front page, including the Tinubu story, headline, photographs, text and newspaper presentation, is entirely AI-generated material and does not represent any genuine edition or publication of PM NEWS.
The newspaper therefore urges members of the public to disregard the material and stop further sharing or reproducing it.
We are particularly concerned that the fabricated publication is being presented in a manner designed to make unsuspecting members of the public believe that the newspaper actually published the alleged interview with Tinubu. It did not.
PM NEWS did not publish the purported interview or the allegation that Tinubu admitted to being a drug abuser and trafficker in its archival publication. The entire material is fake.
The newspaper strongly condemns attempts to exploit its established name and credibility to manufacture political narratives, mislead the public or damage the reputation of individuals.
Politicians, political parties, campaign organisations, supporters and social media users are therefore warned against creating or circulating fabricated publications bearing the PM NEWS identity.
The newspaper will actively monitor the circulation of such materials and preserve evidence relating to their production and distribution.
We will take appropriate legal action against anyone found deliberately using its name, logo, identity or brand to create and disseminate fraudulent publications.
Persons identified as being behind such acts will be reported to the appropriate law-enforcement authorities for investigation, arrest and prosecution where the evidence establishes a criminal offence, while the newspaper will also explore available civil remedies.
This platform will not permit its brand to be used as a political weapon or as a vehicle for spreading misinformation and fabricated allegations.
The newspaper therefore calls on members of the public to verify any material attributed to PM NEWS through its authorised platforms before accepting or sharing it.
Any purported PM NEWS publication that cannot be traced to the newspaper’s authorised platforms should be treated as suspect and should not be attributed to this news platform.
This newspaper urges politicians and their supporters to stop manufacturing fake newspaper pages in an attempt to give credibility to claims that were never published by legitimate media organisations.
