The Lagos Police Command has listed 25 mobile phones, two laptops and three cutlasses among items recovered by its operatives from four suspected armed robbers arrested at their hideout in Idi-Oro, in Mushin area of the state.
The four suspects who were arrested following sustained intelligence gathering were alleged to members of an armed robbery syndicate operating around Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas of Lagos, spokesperson for the Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the spokesperson for the Command said in a statement on Tuesday.
She identified the suspects as Damilare Oluwatobi, ‘m’, 28 years; Lekan Adenuga, ‘m’, 30 years; Haruna Sheriff, ‘m’, 22 years; and David Balogun, ‘m’, 24 years.
The suspects, she said were arrested by operatives of Violent Crimes Response Unit, VCRU, of the Command,
The Lagos Police spokesperson said the suspects are currently in Police custody and are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
She added that efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the gang who may be connected to the criminal activities.
Adebisi quoted Lagos Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai as commending the operatives of the VCRU for their swift response, intelligence-led investigation and successful arrest of the suspects.
