I have forgiven my enemies; I will be a governor for all – Adeleke

By Isa Isawade

The newly returned governor of Osun, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has pledged to forgive all his political foes and opponents, saying despite the unpalatable events that took place during the electioneering campaign, he would accommodate all and be a governor to all.

Adeleke said this on Wednesday at the INEC Osun State Headquarters in Osogbo where he, along his deputy, was presented the certificate of return following his victory at the August 15 polls.

The governor, who began his speech by singing the praises of God for his triumph in the election, said he would be ungrateful to God if he still harboured grudges against those who worked against him.

“What else do I want God to do for me. All sorts of things were done to frustrate me, but God stood by me and gave me victory. Why would I still be bitter against anybody. I call on them all to join hands with me to move the state forward,” Adeleke said.

He assured all that his administration would be more people-Oriented in its second term, adding that execution of laudable projects the state witnessed during his first term of office would be intensified.

He thanked INEC for delivering a successful election and thanked his supporters and the people of Osun for believing in him, adding that he would not disappoint them.

He thanked all security agents for ensuring a secure environment during the election. He particularly thanked the police, especially the Commissioner of Police (Election), CP Erale Etaifo, and said he wished the police did more.

“I thank the Police and other security agents who were on ground to ensure a peaceful, free and fair election. I especially thank the Commissioner of Police (Election). But I wished the police had done more.

“My biggest thank goes to our father, our Jagaban, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for allowing democracy to survive in Osun. I promise again that we shall work for his re-election in 2027,” the governor said.
